If you wish to enroll in a graduate program offered at a National American University campus in the United States approved to host F-1 students, please complete the following steps and provide the requested information.
- Copies of all undergraduate transcript(s) which include(s) all courses pertinent to receiving the bachelor's degree in addition to the Official evaluated record from a NACES or AICE member, see below.
- All records must be submitted to a NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member or AICE member approved credential evaluation service following the requirements listed by the evaluator. The original report should be sent directly to the NAU location where you intend to enroll before the start date.

Demonstrate proficiency in English through satisfaction of one of the following requirements.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Or International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Below is a breakdown of accepted scores of each format:
TEST SCORE TOEFL (Paper-based) 550 TOEFL (Computer-based) 213 TOEFL (Internet-based) 70 IELTS 5 (Overall average) OR
- Provide evidence of completion of two semesters (or equivalent) of college-level English (excluding ESL courses) with a grade of "C" or higher at an accredited college or university whose language of instruction is English.
- Provide evidence of English language proficiency by completing the English assessment exam, Accuplacer ESL, with minimum scores in the following categories:
- Reading skills of 102 or higher
- Sentence meaning of 100 or higher
- Language usage of 95 or higher
- Writing sample of 5 or higher
- Evidence that English was the classroom language for the majority of the schoolwork for students from English-speaking countries.

Complete the International Financial Certification Form and return it with a bank statement issued within the last 3 months.

Provide a copy of your passport and the passports of your spouse or children who will be eligible visa dependents. Each passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application.

If you are an F-1 student and seeking to transfer from another U.S. institution to NAU, you will need to submit the following documents to the International office.
- Complete the requirements in the section.
- Provide copies of the following documents:
- International student Transfer-In Information form completed by an international student advisor from the student's current institution.
- Copy of U.S. admission stamp in passport for applicant and for any eligible dependent spouse or children (F-2). The validity date must list "D/S" (Duration of Status).
- Copy or I-94 (If arrived by land) or print out of electronic I-94 record (if arrived by air) from https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94 for applicant and for any eligible dependent spouse or children (F-2). The validity date must list "D/S" (Duration of Status).
- Copy of F-1 visa for applicant and for any eligible dependent spouse or children (F-2).
- Copy of I-20s from current and any previous schools for applicant and any eligible dependent (F-2).

If you are requesting a change of status and you meet the admission requirements listed under the Graduate New Applicant section above. National American University will issue the Form I-20 for the term you request in your application. However, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has special rules about the expiration of your current status and when the F-1 program should start, which may impact the USCIS's decision.
It is your responsibility to ensure you meet USCIS's requirements. We advise that you seek the assistance of an experienced attorney. - Complete the requirements in the section.
- Provide copies of the following documents:
- Copy of U.S. admission stamp in passport for applicant and for any eligible dependent spouse or children (F-2). The validity date cannot be expired.
- Copy or I-94 (If arrived by land) or print out of electronic I-94 record (if arrived by air) from https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94 for applicant and for any eligible dependent spouse or children (F-2). The validity date cannot be expired.
- Copy of visa for applicant and for any eligible dependent spouse or children.
- Completed Form I-539. Download form: https://www.uscis.gov/i-539

If you have an F-1 visa and would like your SEVIS record to remain at another institution but would like to take some classes at National American University, you will need to provide the following to the International office (add hyperlink to the contact us under graduate admissions):
- Copy of current I-20
- Letter from the International student advisor/DSO at their current institution must be submitted to NAU's international office.
